Last Day Reflections

What did you learn about photography that you did not know before?
I learned a lot about how cameras work and the different types of photography. The different apertures and the iso settings was all new. I also learned the process of developing film and photos in the dark room and the different chemical processes. Another thing was the composition of photographs. The rule of thirds really helped me in my photographs.

What did you learn about yourself this semester?
I never really had a big intrest in photography but I thought I would take the class to learn a little more about the subject. I found out that I actually do like taking pictures and looking for things to photograph. I also liked being able to go out with just a camera and look for stuff to photograph.

What do you wish we had done that we did not?
I wish we would have done more pictures of landscapes and stuff like that. I didn't like the portraits very much. I also wish we would have done more color photographs. I don't really like the black and white very much because I feel like it kinda takes away a lot from the photograph.

What was your struggle?
A struggle for me was finding time to take the pictures during the day. I work most weekends so when I get back its dark and then right after school is hard because there is only an hour of good daylight. Another thing was really taking time to do the pictures. I like to take pictures of stuff I find and not really have a lot of guide lines with the pictures. A lot of the pictures required a lot of setting up and I like just to take pictures of the natural thing.

What did you conquer?
I think I figured out photoshop pretty well. When I came into the class I already knew how to use it pretty well but now I know how to edit photos a lot better and what to do to make them look better. Also I got how to develop the film well.

Light Project

One thing I learned was that when taking a silhouette picture was that it was hard to get the settings right on the camera so it wasn't completely dark in the whole picture. I learned that the direct light worked better if you did it from the side and not in the fornt. That way you could see the shadow better.
